Introduction

This is a Bluetooth Angle of Arrival (AoA) locator device for indoor positioning system providers. The device includes an antenna array board with 16 dual-linearly polarized patch antennas and an antenna switch for Bluetooth AoA Constant Tone Extension (CTE) sampling. The device performs I/Q sampling of CTE advertising packets sent from Bluetooth AoA tags. The I/Q data is processed to calculate and output angles, including azimuth and elevation. These output angles are transmitted to a host through a UART interface. In a typical setup, the device is connected to a PC and used with demo PC software to determine the direction of AoA tags.
